This project focuses on artists of historical significance whose works converge thematically by their diverse use of color and geometry. The majority of the artists have exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Tate Britain (Turner Prize recipients), or the Venice Biennale. Scholars, artists, and the general public can now view the Online Project at davebownprojects.com/online_project.html This project has been made possible due to the generosity of artists and organizations from the United States, Germany, England, Scotland, Wales, Switzerland, Austria, Brazil, and Cuba. 10 of the 23 artists are from countries other than the United States. A few of the participating organizations are The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; Barbara Krakow Gallery, Boston; The Modern Institute / Toby Webster Ltd, Glasgow; Gagosian Gallery, New York; and Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York. Dave Bown Projects was founded in 2005. The initiatives of the privately held U.S. company focus on advancing the field of contemporary art by engaging in scholarly research and distributing unrestricted monetary awards to visual artists.
